Basics of Jewelry Making
Full-Day Introduction to Metalworking

Service Description
Learn the basics of jewellery making in one day. The most beautiful piece of jewellery is the one that has passed through your hands, your flame, and your imagination. We invite you into the authentic world of the goldsmith’s craft, where dust turns into art and raw metal into a personal story. During 8 intensive hours, we will guide you through the journey from sheet metal to a complete set of handmade jewellery. The course is designed so that you spend as much time as possible creating at the jeweller’s bench. How the day will unfold: * introduction to the workshop, safety, materials, and tools * jewellery design and material preparation * sawing, filing, and shaping * working on a ring * lunch break * soldering / working with a torch * working on a pendant * sanding, polishing, and finishing * what’s next: how to continue in the open workshop or jewellery club 🔨 What will you learn during the course? * Measuring with a caliper, calculating ring size, and fitting joints. * Rolling sheet metal, hammer-texturing, and cutting with a jeweller’s saw. * Annealing metal and soldering — yes, we will work with torches! * Sanding all the way to a polished finish using a micromotor or polishing machine. 💍 What will you take home? * Pendant: Practice in drilling and cutting out shapes. * Ring: A lesson in precise soldering. 📦 The course price includes: * Professional guidance: full-day instruction in a small group of max. 6–8 participants. * Practice materials: all the copper, brass, or nickel silver you use during the day. * Silver solder, saw blades, sandpaper, and use of machines and tools. * Coffee, tea, and snacks throughout the day; lunch is not included. * A box for your creations. * A clear printed guide with procedures and a list of tools, in case you would like to continue creating. This course is suitable for you if: * you are a complete beginner and want to understand the basics of jewellery making * you are looking for more than a one-time workshop and are interested in the craft itself * you want to try working with metal before joining the open workshop * you are thinking about your own jewellery projects * you are looking for a practical course, not just a creative experience If you would like to work with silver, the price is €8.33/g. The maximum amount is 3 g per piece of jewellery. For jewellery over 3 grams, hallmarking at the Assay Office is required, which means collection one week later and an additional fee of €5. For less expensive metals, we offer the option of coating the jewellery with a professional hypoallergenic lacquer, which helps preserve its beautiful shine for approximately six months to one year. You can also bring your ring back to the workshop at any time for repolishing or order a new lacquer coating.
